5 Holiday Weight Loss Tips

Getting Started

For many people, holidays may be their only opportunity to truly relax. The ever growing daily stresses we all experience on a day to day basis makes the idea of sunbathing and chugging beer sound like heaven, but this deeply relaxing lifestyle can have some negative impacts. No one needs that which is why this article is going to show helpful holiday weight loss tips.

A concern for many people before going on holiday is their physique and because of this you will often find numerous individuals looking to get in shape before their holiday, but this often accompanies little concern of how they will look after. This lack of concern combined with a complete and utter lack of attention paid on diet and exercise often leads to weight gain, but don’t worry, I’m here to help prevent this. More specifically In this article, I will go over numerous weight loss tips you can implement into your diet to further help keep your physique in shape while on holiday, let’s do this.

Optimize your water intake –

If you happen to be somewhere hot, this factor is even more important. So, put down that beer for two seconds and go grab a glass of water. Water helps with weight loss tremendously and this is due to metabolic boosting effects. For those of you who don’t know, your metabolism – (metabolic rate) is the body’s rate at which calories are utilized and those with a faster metabolism are known for being able to eat whatever they want without worry of gaining weight. By boosting your metabolism through water consumption, you enable your body to effectively and more efficiently burn calories throughout your holiday.

Take it easy on the beer –

A factor I’m sure you didn’t want to see on this list, but if you’re trying to watch your weight whilst on holiday, watching your beer intake may reduce your chances of weight gain. Beer is extremely harmful to those trying to keep their physiques in shape, it’s loaded with calories, can alter your hormones and is typically consumed in rather large amounts, all three of these factors can result in weight gain. On a brighter note, my suggestion to take it easy on the beer doesn’t mean you can’t consume any other type of alcoholic beverage, a better option can be anything from wine to whiskey. These forms of alcohol are typically much lower in calories and aren’t consumed in such large amounts.

Eat out less… –

Sad news to those of you who love eating out, unfortunately, if you’re trying to manage your weight gain eating out every single night is going to work against you. Instead, try and opt for food from the supermarket, yes it’s boring and doesn’t taste as good but it’s going to allow you to save up much more money and is less detrimental towards your physique. There are also tasty healthy recipes you can eat even during the holidays that will help you eat out less. Or eat special good tasting food that allows you to eat all you want to eat. When people eat out, they typically eat and drink much more than if they simply eat from home and this lowering in caloric intake is ultimately going to help you maintain that wonderful figure you worked so hard for. So, discipline yourself a little and you will find yourself maintaining your figure that much easier.

Incorporate a fun fitness program –

A very unusual yet effective way to manage and maintain that slim body you started the holiday with. Now, I’m not saying you should base your entire holiday around a fitness regimen but including a short but intense thirty-minute workout every other day can vastly improve your metabolic rate among other things. This workout routine should include short intense body weight cardio sessions such as short sprints, burpees and jumping jacks. By doing this for around thirty minutes every other day, you help to ensure your metabolic rate stays high, but this will also help keep your calorie count in check.

Go on morning walks –

This factor can be beneficial in numerous ways. By taking part in an early morning walk, you enable much more time to sight see which will allow you to truly appreciate your holiday. Going on a brisk early morning walk will also help to clear your head and can deliver a very nice start to your day. Most importantly, going on a walk first thing in the morning will encourage faster weight loss. After a night of sleep, your body is in tip-top shape, this means your metabolism is at its highest, you also haven’t eaten a thing in eight-plus hours this will, in turn, lead to a high possibility for weight loss during your walk. This strategy can be a much more enjoyable task when completed with family or friends as this will allow you to experience life’s simple pleasures together.

Take part in local fun activities

You’re on holiday, chances are that there are numerous fun activities you can take part in, who says exercise has to be boring… Depending on your location, you may be surrounded by swimming pools, rock climbing, sports centers and more. Many of the activities surrounding you, you’ve never done before, so dig deep and go enjoy yourself. If you’re with family, taking part in physical activities can be a fun and challenging way to not only lose weight but bond with your family. By taking part in fun activities, you can end up burning a huge number of calories without even realizing it and who knows, you may even enjoy some of the activities so much that you carry it on when you get home.

This was really helpful. I love to eat on the holidays but then I’m so upset with myself and I feel guilty. I really need to get a regular exercise routine but I have been a little lazy. LOL Anyway thanks for the article. Also there some good recipes that are low calories but are tasty. I guess I just need to cook more myself. LOL again. Thanks.
